As for how we both ended up here, our journeys were different, but both led us to this point where we’re transforming Ukraine’s digital landscape.

Zoriana: Before joining the Ministry of Digital Transformation, I spent about seven years working in various positions within the justice system. I have a background in law and worked in departments handling state registration and court representation. Over time, I became more interested in how technology could improve the delivery of public services. My turning point came when I participated in a legal hackathon. There, I saw firsthand how digitalization could transform processes that seemed stagnant—like those in the court or notary systems. That experience made me realize that I wanted to be part of this transformation, so I joined the Ministry to help make these changes a reality.

Ruslana: My background is a mix of different experiences. I’ve worked with civil organizations and even in the Ministry of Health. I also have a pedagogical background, which has been useful in building training programmes. Over the years, I’ve combined these experiences to help me approach digital skills development with a fresh perspective. You don’t always need five years of formal education to make a difference in this field. Sometimes, life experience and a bit of creativity can be just as valuable. In today’s world, especially with digital learning becoming the norm, it’s all about flexibility and being willing to adapt quickly.
